As a fan of the show I really enjoyed Ghost Whisperer: The Haunted, which is five comic (graphic art) installments tied together by a single story-line centering on the Egyptian God, Osiris — or is it Osiris?

This one is definitely for fans of the show, so if you lived in a cave during the during this show’s wonderful 5-year run from 2005–2010, you might want to watch a few episodes or at least read up on the characters, since it simply jumps in with both feet, assuming you already know the basic cast and premise. If you are familiar with the show, and miss pretty Jennifer Love Hewitt’s portrayal of Melinda Gordon, miss the often tender story-lines of those not yet crossed over, and miss the decent and uplifting story-lines of hope, as Melinda tries to turn the troubled toward the light, and the hereafter, then you’ll love the gathering of these five comics into a single volume.

I enjoyed the artwork, and I also enjoyed the story-line. No, it wasn’t incredibly deep, but it’s a comic, after all, just a nice supplement for fans to the wonderful show. The story arc is basic, but in line with the show’s atmosphere and themes, and the artwork and captions made it easy to follow. As with nearly every comic based on a television series, the characters don’t always look “exactly” like they do on television, but I discovered that the artist captured Melinda and the other characters close enough on several occasions to give me the sense that it was them, and I was reading a series of brief episodes that was one story arc.

Perhaps your enjoyment of this will depend on how much you loved the show, how much you miss it, and what your expectations are. I loved the show, really miss it. Having read comics based on other shows over the years, I just settled in for the fun and nostalgia, not expecting much more than that, and was amply rewarded. Just coming across something nice and hopeful in this day and age makes it heartily recommended for fans.… (mehr)
