Cute.

Characters were great but the story wrap up left a lot to be desired. Loved the world building but wanted more showing and less telling or leaving to the reader to assume.

For a relatively short book, it managed to drag quite a bit and I just wanted it to be over. Very little character development, though being the first book I can sort of let it pass. The writing could have been a little less bland too. I plan to give the second book in the series a shot, but it's really going to have to pick up the pace to keep me enticed.

2.75 at the most, I won't be reading any more of this series.

The writing is stilted and doesn't flow freely, and the ending was too abrupt as if the author just gave up and didn't want to bother with it anymore.

Every third year on the same day The Tribe (a wandering band of hippies) appear in Dry Spring to spend their summer at the campground near Pyramid Park. Solana McAdow's history with The Tribe was known to Skye McAdow even though she always made sure to keep her son far away from them but the year he turns 17 everything changes. His mother disappeared two years ago without a word leaving Skye and his little sister Willow to figure things out for themselves so when The Tribe shows an interest in Skye he finds that he is also curious and now his mother isn't there to prevent him getting answers.

I was really surprised by this book. Not only was it a lot longer than I was expecting (definitely not a bad thing) but it also held quite a few plot twists. I wasn't expecting LGBT to make an appearance but it isn't overly done and I wouldn't consider it adult content. If that sort of thing bothers you then this book really isn't for you. This is one book that I wish had a sequel but it doesn't really end in a cliffhanger. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading about coming of age, magic, the supernatural and alternate worlds.
