A dear friend gave me this little book, and even though I wasn’t sure I would find it all that interesting, I decided to give it a try this past month. What a blessing this little devotional is! Focused on God and His word, with multiple references to the Bible and many stories of the “greats” of the past (I loved reading some of the stories behind some of the old well-beloved hymns! They were a sermon in themselves!), this was a quick, thought-provoking read. Recommended for anyone feeling discouraged and anxious in today’s world. I came away from this read quite encouraged, and wouldn’t be surprised if I read it again soon.… (mehr)

The growing impact of Islam on Western societies poses direct and indirect challenges to the Church and its mission. This book compares Islam with Christianity (offering a theological understanding of Islam), discusses the effects of Islam on the West in areas such as education and politics, and examines various issues in Christian-Muslim relations, including dialogue, cooperation and mission. Addressing a vital issue, it is essential reading for Christians in the West.

This book seems to me to be a well-balanced description of Islamic State (also called ISIS) and should be a benefit to anyone wanting to know more about this movement.
