Harry Rowohlt, the heir to the German publishing house Rowohlt, recently died. He was a larger than life character, an entertainer who only had to be supplied with food and drink (usually highly alcoholic - which ultimately killed him) to keep an audience spellbound for hours and hours. This account of a conversation of the two friends in Ireland in 2001 both offers a good account of Harry Rowohlt's life and career as well as they way and style he entertained people.
