Lily and Trooper discover the wonders of fall. As they wake up they see leaves fluttering by the window and realize that autumn pleasures await. First they jump in a pile of leaves. When it begins to rain, they turn an umbrella into a sailboat. Later they fly a kite and crash their wagon into a leaf pile. That night they fall asleep reading a story about a girl and her dog.
This book is part of a series of four books for toddlers and beginning readers in which a little girl and her puppy discover activities and joys unique to each season.

This simple and short story is about a little girl and her lovely dog in the winter season. They wake up in the morning and go outside to play. They build a snowman, go skating and ski up and down the ice mountain. Finally, they go home to take a warm bath. When they felt warn in their cozy home, they decided to bring the snowman who stayed outside in the freezing weather. Children will learn from this book why the snowman melted when Lily brought him inside the house and what will happen to the snow in a warm condition which is a good thing about this text. The illustrator uses really vibrant colors to accentuate the cold weather outside and how the winter season looks like. He also uses excellent colors for the warm and cozy house. However, the simple summary of Lily’s day with her dog was not so interesting story for my children. Also, because Lily’s expression remains almost the same on each page, that creates imperfection in this book. I think there are many more successful stories about beautiful relationship between dog and a kid than this story.… (mehr)
