This is what i wrote back then in 2004 (and I must say I am laughing about my review now. they look like letters to friends lol) :

November 20 2004 I am nearly finished. It is a very interesting book with shocking photo's. I am so grateful that DNA has been discovered so we can catch the real criminals. Right now I am at page 251 at the trial. I could not believe that after hearing those accusations his wife is still behind him.
Update some hours later Finished. An interesting true crime book. My grade would be a 7.5 but because of the attention to the victims i am going to grade it 8

This is a quick read but it somehow feels unresolved. Yes the guy who did it was caught, but only on circumstantial evidence. And his testimony. (disgusting and so typical of those perverts. I knew they loved blaming the victim but to say a 6 year old opened your zipper and wanted to have sex desperately, makes my blood boil!

Most of the book was about the trial(s) At least 2/3 of it if not more.
he author did not manage to make me feel real sorry for Opal's family which is weird cause I always feel sorry. I did now but not as much as I would have normally.

At the end I was left with questions. One of them was, They did find her body. Did they find any more evidence that Franks did it? They did not prosecute him with murder. Only with kidnapping. I also could not find the answer while searching online.Only thing I did find that the little girl's head was bashed in.


I think this is an okay true crime book but I would not buy it. Lend it from the library or from a friend.… (mehr)
