- Dr. Stanlis called his time spent with Robert Frost at Bread Loaf School his biggest influence. He gave the commencement speech in 1962 at the University of Detroit, where he presented Frost with an honorary doctorate of humane letters. Stanlis spent most of his career writing about Edmund Burke.
