I had heard a lot about this book but resisted checking it out at first because I am not interested in canning and I thought that’s pretty much all it was about. It does certainly have a lot of recipes for preserves, but a lot of other useful info as well. The reason I finally picked it up was for the tortilla recipe, which turned out to be easy to follow (and only moderately labor-intensive), if not as revelatory as I’d heard. The other cooking recipes aren’t quite to my taste, but I’ve also gotten some good ideas for more effective homemade cleaners. The personal care recipes are intriguing, but I’m more minimalist—I use very few products, and I just buy those as natural as I can.… (mehr)
