Sara Suleri (1953–2022)

This is possibly the worst book I've ever read--definitely my most hated. I had to read it for a university class I took, and not only did I read it twice, I studied it and had to write about it. So I had a really good look at it, and yep--it's the pits.

This is Suleri's memoir of growing up in a privileged family in Pakistan. She writes in a cryptic style that says "oooh, I'm soooo intellectual, and soooo important". Interestingly, my class was divided between people who loathed it as much as I did, and those who loved it. Amazon's reviews are similarly divided: only 1 star or 5 star reviews.
