- Born in Detroit Michigan, Michael J. Sullivan has lived in Vermont, North Carolina and Virginia. He worked as a commercial artist and illustrator, founding his own advertising agency in 1996, which he closed in 2005 to pursue writing full-time. The Crown Conspiracy is his first published work. He currently resides in Fairfax, Virginia with his wife and three children.

Very nice. Again, big challenges for the protagonists, creative solutions need to be found. That is really fun.
Short and sweet, a good introduction, if not much more. Probably doesn't have to be read before the main series, could be even more enjoyable as snack inbetween.
Yes, finally some good old fantasy again!
Elves, dwarves, magic... if very few of all those. It works very well, the classic thief and fighter pair doesn't have to do a lot of growing up to do - they are already awesome at what they do, but they DO face some real problems and they need to come up with ideas and solutions. That's what I hated about a famous dark elf, he just hacked his way through everything, nothing was ever a challenge. Not so here, Royce and Hadrian really run into trouble.… (mehr)

The ending is not completely unexpected, but it doesn't uselessly drag on, so it doesn't detract from all the drama before.
