John Tamny

Tamny give a fairly interesting view of how economies work and what has been done right/wrong with the U.S. Economy. Think Steve Forbes! Lower taxes (income, inheritance, property, etc.), remove regulations, remove tariffs, and get the dollar back on the gold standard. Its good to have "wealth disparity" because it "often causes those who are not wealthy to take the risks necessary to attain riches." Wow - poor people have all the breaks! And on the other side of the billion dollars: "Because ten million dollars meant so little to the Getty family, a brilliant cable network was created.... It got funding because the Gettys had so much money that they were willing to take major risks with their substantial excess... chump change."

The book tingles with outrage at times. Regulators can't regulate because if they were any good, they would be making much more money in a business (i.e., they are stupid?). Tamny has never met a government bureaucrat that contributed anything positive to the economy. It is hard to take some of his ideas seriously with all the name calling wrapped around them.… (mehr)
