Taking along time to get into this book - the mother and daughter are not realistic to me. Will continue to read.

FROM BOOKFUNNEL: It’s every mother’s worst nightmare. Except she isn’t dreaming …

"An unforgettable psychological thriller."

A runaway teen. A desperate mother. A relentless detective with a sordid past.

Save Me Once tackles today's hottest topics in the engrossing, yet delicate way Christian fiction fans have grown to expect from USA Today bestseller Alana Terry.… (mehr)

I got to listen to this book recently on the Unabridged podcast, and what an interesting story! I love how Terry takes a setting that is somewhat familiar and turns it completely on its head—all while letting God’s grace and love shine through as only He can do.

This book, like many of her others, was quite suspenseful. I had a hard time putting it down! It’s not one of my top favorites of hers—perhaps because I was really annoyed by a couple of the characters whom I was supposed to be annoyed with—but it was still a very good story. One of my favorite parts was how the main character kept referring back to her mother’s Bible verse songs to encourage herself in the different situations she faced. And Pip. I loved that little guy.

Recommended for all Christian suspense lovers who enjoy a slight twist of romance as well. A good book overall, and worth a read, although I doubt I would ever re-read it.

Trigger warning: One of the major themes in this book is that the main character’s mother has just died, apparently by suicide. This runs throughout the book, with a few details here and there—none gruesome.

I just finished reading this story, and friends—if you are interested in redemption stories at all, read this book!

I remember one or maybe two stories that I’ve read about child trafficking. All were from Christian perspectives, and they were good, but this one blows them out of the water for me.

Terry does an excellent job getting into her character’s heads. If I counted right, there are four different points of view, but I was never confused as to who was talking. I loved watching the characters grow, hated the bad guy, and almost felt like praying along with several of the characters as they struggled to make the right decisions.

I think my most favorite part of this book was the fact that while it deals with human trafficking, I never once felt like I was shown or forced to hear details I don’t want to know. Several times, characters were talking about the things they had to talk about, and you got enough of the general gist of the conversation to know where they were going, but it was never, ever printed out. Even the character that was forced into prostitution only thinks about what she had to do in terms of going on multiple dates. I so appreciated that!

This book sheds light on a subject that often isn’t written about, but that I think we’d all agree is a big problem today. And it brings hope to situations that are often—unfortunately—hopeless. It gave me a heart to pray for the end of this modern slave trade even more. And inspired me, too, because God’s grace is so much greater than we often stop to remember! He is good. I loved that this story reminded me of that.

If you read any Christian Fiction this year, definitely read this one. Yes, it’s a thriller, but don’t let that scare you off. It’s one of the best books I’ve read this year, and quite likely my favorite from Terry so far, aside from The Beloved Daughter!

I requested a free review copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion of it.

I always love reading books by Alana Terry. They capture suspense, faith, and more in a way that makes the characters come to life. Terror in the Skies is no different. This book is the first in the Turbulent Skies series.

Willow is caught in a desperate situation on the plane that has been hijacked and she has to face her deepest fears and needs. The characters are so realistic and the plot pulled me into the book. This short novella is one that is worth reading.

So check this novella out for yourself.

I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.
