The President’s Advisory 1776 Commission

A decent capitulation of standard, pro-American civics and history. A rebuff to the modern-day historical scholarship of identity politics and America-as-evil that unfortunately runs rife through academia. It will bolster those who think America is great, but read as a dumb screed by those already inclined to think the American experiment is just white supremacy run amok. Already it is accused of perpetuating white supremacy, but no honest reader would come to that conclusion. Maybe you think American history is not so rosy, but that interpretation is subjective, just as this interpretation is subjective. Some good quotes, some good insights, but, overall, preaching to the choir. It would have been helped immensely by a "suggested reading" section of great American documents, books, and histories to read, but, that was not provided.… (mehr)
