It has a cute ending. However, the book fails to stand out. With so many picture books about unicorns this is not one that stands out from the crowd.

I love the play on words with all the examples of what the not-unicorn is instead - 'oar-icorn' on a kayak, 'spoon-icorn' dishing out ice cream. Kids will have fun coming up with their own not-unicorn ideas!

It's about a silly unicorn who can do all sorts of fun and useful things because its horn changes shape. It's written in rhyme (though the meter is a bit awkward at times) and it has a positive message. The pictures are vibrant and engaging. My 6 year old liked it, and my 9 year old found it amusing enough that she was happy to listen as I read it. If the rhyme and meter flowed a little bit better it would be a great book, but it's a good book as is.… (mehr)
