What a stream-of-consciousness writing, though the story progresses through several years. Tollifson alternates between telling of her non-dualist views, living through her mother's death, and dealing with her own illnesses. She holds nothing back and this book epitomizes what Betty Davis probably meant when she said, "Old age is not for sissies."

My husband and I read this in our advaita book discussion group, and most everyone in the group seemed happy to just skip the "ooey" pieces of it, though at least two of us found the entire book helpful. Tollifson's entire life was a physical struggle and I think this shows in her willingness to frankly write about her struggle to deal with her ostomy bag, just as she has written other books frankly dealing with the fact that she was born without one of her hands. That fact makes most of what she does a challenge.… (mehr)

This is an excellent overview for anyone, but it is especially well-written for beginners. Each and every teacher has their own vocabulary, including Tollifson, but she shows the commonalities between them. Which, in the world of non-duality, is only to be expected.
