The perfect read for Halloween!
Deliciously twisty, darkly gothic and spine tingly creepy!
Welcome to the Henderson House of Horrors.

30 years ago little Mandy Miller, three years old, disappeared without a trace from the village Hallow's End. Her family and the village never really got over the disappearing. Elaine Ellis arrives at the village to scatter her mother ashes. Elaine's mother grew up in Hallow's End, but Elaine has never been there and little does she know how her arrival will affect the town.

I can honestly say that I had the story figured out around 27% and my theories came through. But, I still enjoyed the story despite how predictable it was because I came to care for the characters, Elaine, Dan and young Brodie. Even though the whole missing child story was predictable was it still very good written and there happened things that I did not foresee. In many ways is this perfect summer reading. It's enjoyable, well written and not overly grim or not too romantic. This is the kind of book I would read when I need something lighter, a mystery story with some romance. One thing I really liked was that I never got irritated with the characters, they never really did anything stupid, they acted as human beings in difficult situations, and even the “bad ones” wasn't that irritating because there are people who are just bad. People that are only thinking about themselves and don't care about others.

I liked this book and I will keep an eye out for more books by Ann Troup!

I received a copy through the author for a review that I wrote for the Neverland Blog Tour. All thoughts are my own!

I got the opportunity to participate in the blog tour for Anne Troup's book The Lost Girl last year. I liked the book so when I got the opportunity to participate in a blog tour, for her second book The Silent Girls did I say yes right away. And, let me tell you this book is great!

Edie is returning to Number 17, Coronation Square to clean out the house after aunt has died, but her aunt Dolly has one or two secrets hidden in the house. And, not every friendly face is trustworthy will Edie learn during the progress of the book. I like the fact that the street where Edie's aunt lived seems so normal, at first. Then, you slowly see that the street has a darker side. Of course, the murders decades back in the past has given the street a place on the map (there are even murder tours for tourists).

The pacing in the book is good, it doesn't give away all the secrets too fast and I really feel for Edie who is slowly realizing that not everything is fine. She is just there to clean out a house and suddenly the secrets from the past are being revealed and perhaps some secret should not be revealed.

This is the kind of book I love to read, with buried secrets that have been waiting to be revealed. It's a page-turner with a truly great ending. I did have some suspicions that proved to be right. But, that never bothered me. In some cases, like in this book is nice to discover that you were, after all, right. The book never gets boring. I wanted to find out what really happened all the years ago when several women were killed. Did they catch the right killer?

In the end, I just want to say that this is a great book, perfect for anyone that likes to read mystery books with people with deep dark secrets.

Thanks to Neverland Blog Tours for providing me with a free copy for an honest review.

I knew right away that I wanted to read The Forgotten Room by Ann Troup. The blurb was interesting enough for me to know that this book would be something that would most likely suit me. Also, I've read the previous two books that Troup has written and they both were good. So, the question this time was would this one be just as good?

First I want to say that creepy old houses are a favorite thing for me and I was not disappointed. Right from the start does one get a feeling that something is wrong here. That Maura Lyle has stepped into a situation that she will regret. But, after recent events that have shaken her life is she ready for a change, and that she will get. The question is, just want is the house hiding?

Now, I don't want to give away too much of the story. But, I will point out that I was surprised by the twist and turns the book took. At first, the story seemed pretty straightforward with Maura getting to know the Henderson family. But, seriously, the story got pretty twisted the last half of the book. And, the great thing about this book is that it managed to balance the storyline so well that it never got too much. Things happened that could have tipped the story to be too ridiculous, but it kept on avoiding that that trap all the way through.

The Forgotten Room is a great book. It's twisted and interesting and I can't wait to find out what Ann Troup will publish next!

I want to thank the publisher for providing me with a free copy through NetGalley for an honest review!
