Kurzbiographie
My childhood imaginary friend and the wild fiction stories I wrote early in life pretty much sealed my future fate as a writer. I've been a TV news reporter, PR specialist, freelance writer, and now, I write books for children. My first fiction series, Julep O'Toole, was released by Penguin and Aladdin publishes my Secrets of a Lab Rat series. Both series' are for middle grade readers. On the nonfiction side, I've written more than 70 titles, on everything from storm chasing to video gaming. My publishers include Scholastic, Marshall Cavendish, and The Child's World. I've been married for 25 years to my college sweetheart, Bill, a high school photography teacher. I love photography, art, and napping with my 18-pound ragdoll cat, Kira. *I got this book form the publisher for my honest thoughts*

I found this to super fun read. I thought it was much more realistic and science heavy version of 39 clues. This book def had a strong mix of adventure and mystery but also knowledge and history and science. I really loved the structure of this book and all the characters were just so much fun to read about. I really enjoyed the trio of characters that developed and am super excited to see how the ending and will effect the structure of the future books. I also loved how this book had so many pictures to accent the story. Readers who enjoyed 39 clues may like this if they looking for more of realistic story, should check it out! I am def going to read book 2!… (mehr)

This exciting story of a pre-teen boy who joins the Explorer Academy has fact within the fiction. Real places are used, like Hawaii, and there are profiles at the end of the book about real national Geographic scientists!

A fitting end to this series for pre-teens, early teens. Cruz and his friends must find the final piece of the puzzle to solve the cipher and unlock its secrets. Bur time is not on their side as they struggle to finish out the classwork for the year, race against the mysterious Nebula, and try to uncover the spy in their midst. And as they get closer to the goal, the more dangerous things become. Trueit has a very readable writing style and through the series of books her characters have grown together like a family. The characters are complex and realistic and the mix of geography, biology and other sciences with futuristic technology makes this adventure series even more compelling. In addition, at the end of each book are short articles on the science upon which much of the plot is based. It is both a good read and an educational one. I thoroughtly enjoyed this series!… (mehr)
