I enjoyed The Other Slipper by Kenechi Udogu because it took a classic fairy tale and put a spin on it that had me guessing throughout the book. I love that Jo was an onlooker at the ball and that she ended up with one of the glass slippers that I have read about my whole life. The magical elements of the story will appeal to those who like fantasy. I think kids between third and eighth grade will fall into this book if they like fairy tales, wizards, and mystery. The three main characters are all different, so readers will be able to relate to one or more of them. It is so fun to read a book based on a story you know so well and to have surprises along the way. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading another book by this author.… (mehr)

This was an okay book. There are things that I really enjoy about the book but there are also things that pushed me away from the book. I would have given it a 2.5 star if I could on Goodreads but since I can't, I just kept it as 2 stars because the story felt like it was lacking something for it to be 3 stars.

As for Broken Ties... it was an okay read. There wasn't anything that I hate about it. I just think that it's missing some UMPH in it. I would say that I wish there's more fluff in it, but I could say that to every book because I just like fluff and stuff ;)

It was an interesting read though. It makes you understand more about the series and what actually happened in the past. Like, you can see which trait from her father and mother that Gemma inherited. And I find similarities in Gemma's love story and her dad's love story. But this is not because of their Sentient link. But because of like, 'I can't believe he/she's talking to me' and stuff. It's not a bad thing. I just felt like I've read this before.

Okay, I'm not making sense. But you'll understand it when you've read Aversion. So overall? Okay.

Let me start off with this: This book is EASILY better than the first one! I definitely loved it more! I'll admit though, the beginning was a little slow for me but when the plot thickens, it's just like, BAM! Action!

I think I should list down the pros and cons.

Cons:
-Slow beginning but the introduction is definitely needed.
-I kinda feel like Gemma is more uptight in Sentient than in Aversion?

Pros:
-Character growth. Gemma's uptightness? It didn't last long.
-MORE SUPERPOWERSSSSS!!!!
-Russ. Definitely Russ.
-And new fun character! I LOVE LAURA!!!

Sentient has everything! It keeps you guessing with suspense, the tension between Russ and Gemma keeps you at the edge of your seat and that small plot twist in the end like, WHAT?! Also, I am giving credit to Kenechi Udogu for not making Sentient into a cliffhanger. Like, if she did, I will DIE. Second book syndrome is a bitch. Cliffhanger or no cliffhanger, I am EXCITED to see what she has for Keeper.

PS: I am LOVING that cover! If I ever see this book on Malaysia's shelf, I will buy it without a second thought :D
