Big Hero 6 Vol. 1 (Big Hero 6 (Manga)) von Haruki Ueno
This is a very cute manga, as anyone who has watched the movie Big Hero 6 could guess. The story varies slightly from the movie, but there's no major changes in this first volume. Basically, this is a case of the book living up to the title. It didn't wow me with new and unexpected things, but it did provide exactly what I expected when I picked it up.
Hiro is genius and loves inventing. Hiro and his brother invent this robot named Baymax to help people's health. Throughout the story, Baymax shows to be much more of an aid to the city than the boys ever thought. This book would be good for beginning readers because of the graphic novel structure.
Big Hero 6 is about Hiro, who losses his brother, and finds comfort in a robot named Baymax who helps him search for his brother.
This book is really just good to capture some students attention and help students find a love/interest in reading. I am not sure how you can use this educationally in the classroom.

I picked this up because I was very curious about what it was: it's clearly a tie-in to the movie rather than the original comics or some completely new canon, but the summary on the back didn't seem to match the movie continuity either.
What is seems to be (without me googling for backstory) is a manga adapation of the story based on a very early script revision. The manga adaptation is pretty good, and while I think in general the version of the script that went into the movie is a cleaner and more effective story, ON THE OTHER HAND, this appears to be a version where Tadashi does not die in a fire.
And let's be real, "a version where Tadashi does not die in a fire" is 95% of what I want out of Big Hero Six, I'm not proud.
I'm going to have to find Volume Two to just to verify that Tadashi does in fact continue to be alive.… (mehr)
