really interesting but the writing is kinda clunky because he writing to defend his ideas, rather than just presenting the fascinating idea that the khipu where used to communicate in a binary fashion. What's really cool is that he argues that not only were knot position and knot direction binary, but so were thread material and color, as well as other choices that were made. It would be neat to read more of a synthesis of khipu knowledge as well - one which points out where our experts agree or disagree and why.… (mehr)
