This is an informational text about Veterinarians and animals. Take note that this book is a half and half book meaning the first half is a fictional story, and the second half is informational. The stories were written also by two different authors and illustrated by two different illustrators. The first is "Julie's New Pet" and it is a story about a girl named Julie who loves animals. The story goes throughout her day where she is exposed to a variety of animals and as she becomes friends with a bird, her "new pet." However, it also includes key vocabulary that is discussed near the end of the story as it transitions into the informational portion. By using the vocabulary early on in the fictional portion of the story, students are able to more clearly understand a variety of words in the second half. "The Doctor for the Animals" portion is focused more on what happens at the different Veterinarian locations such as in the city, the country, or even the wild.… (mehr)
