Dawlish is loaned to the Danish Navy as part of a British plan to transfer a steam cruiser to the CSA Navy. Ugly duty, hard work, and some gruesome war scenes which, hopefully, will result in his promotion to sub-lieutenant. Good insights into the early stages of ironclads, steam, rifled cannon, and breech-loading rifles portrayed against the background of the Civil War. A glance from abroad at the US Civil War as Dawlish fights on land and sea
