I enjoyed this book about an all girls boarding school in the 1950's. There wasn't really a main character. The story centered around two girls, Jennifer and Nancy. Jennifer comes from a wealthy family and is beautiful. She always gets what she wants...and she wants one of the professors. How far will Jennifer go?

Nancy entered the school mid-year. Her mother is ashamed of her...she had gotten pregnant, and had the baby. It was given up for adoption, and Nancy was ferried off to the school. She becomes withdrawn, and the other girls on her floor try to befriend her. One particular girl, Heather, is quiet too. Nancy and Heather are drawn together by a letter that is accidentally placed in one of their mailboxes. They become fast, best friends. Nancy has finally found someone with whom she can let her guard down and not fear getting hurt.
