When i was young my mother paid me 25 a volume for reading this. Some bits still stay with me; oddly enough one is the story of St. Thomas and king Gondaphares in India (as the chronicle begins well before Norman history) and another is the gallant struggle between King William Rufus and the Count of Maine.
