David Wagoner, a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and editor of Poetry Northwest, teaches at the University of Washington. In addition to many collections of poetry he has published ten novels, including The Escape Artist, which was made into a movie by Francis Ford Coppola.

A splendid collection of short poems. Highly personal (but universally true!).

The Best American Poetry 2009: Series Editor David… von David Wagoner
At first I wasn't too pleased, but once I got further into the book the poems were written in a fovrable style. The editor groups poems of particular styles together, and they seemed to progress from more traditional to those that have a more modern flavor.
