Misty Walker

Rigger's Mistake is the 1st book in the Sons Of Erebus MC: Reno series by Misty Walker and if the rest of the series is like this one it's going to be awesome. This book is a dark stepbrother romance and it is full of triggers just like I look for. I really enjoy Misty's style of writing. She makes her characters so realistic like I could know them just like the main conflict in the book. It makes the story better that way for me. I like when the story I'm reading is something that could actually be happening somewhere in the world and Misty does that.
This book is about Rigger the VP of the Sons of Erebus MC and his step-sister Navy. When Rigger was 18 he was kicked out of his house by his abusive dad but thought he had a solid deal in place to protect Navy without him there. Fast forward 15 years and Navy is tired of the abuse from her step-father and wants to get her and her mom out. She finds out about a brothel opening up and gets a job there. That is until Rigger sees her since it turns out to be his brothel. This book was tense a lot of the time especially when hearing about the abuse she's gone through at the hands of Ray and doesn't want to tell Rigger. She doesn't want to see the pity in his eyes but of course, he finds out. When he does his rage is instant. He thought his deal with Ray was in place to protect Navy but she only thought he abandoned her. Through a lot of the book when Rigger is finding out the different things that Navy is hiding he thinks he gets the picture and then reminds himself of the deal he had in place to keep her safe. Rigger knows Ray better than anymore and he disappeared 15 years before without ever checking in to make sure Ray was keeping up his end. He should have known better. I wanted to shake him so many times like open your eyes. Navy, that girl had been through more than anyone her age should have. Especially with how young the abuse started for her. And her mom is nothing more than trash at this point. Rigger should have handled her like he handled everything else.
I gave this book a 4-star rating and a 4-spicy rating because the spicy good parts didn't start until near the end of the book. I wanted to see more of Navy becoming a confident woman and taking her sexuality back like she needed. Other than that I don't have a bad thing to say about this book. It had everything that I look for in a dark MC romance. I can't wait to see which brother is up next. I'm hoping it's Lucky!

I was drawn in by all the teasers and the blurb for this story. I had not read the story by K Bromberg that this was loosely written about so it came as a complete surprise. The premise of the story was good and I was genuinely surprised because this was the first time reading this author.

The story starts out pretty intense for Liv. My heart hurt for her. I wasn't sure where it was going to go from there but liked the direction that it took. I enjoyed Topher and Liv together. I did, however, have some issues in the story. I was surprised that after not showing much interest in Topher that things changed quickly. I also was surprised by part II and how things turned out for them. It didn't make much sense. I also didn't understand what Joe was doing in that part of the story. It felt like he was instigating something and then that never really went anywhere. Also, the ending about the dad and the person calling about the dad was just odd to me. That is just my opinion.

Even with those parts, there were some steamy good times, a great secondary character with the "mom", and for the most part a plausible storyline. I would have liked things fleshed out more in several places. but it did keep my interest and kept me turning the pages to find out how it would all work out.… (mehr)

Bridgette 'Birdie' Davis is an eighteen year old, spoiled, uber rich chick. Her world gets turned on end when her father turns her over to bikers to keep her safe after he is blackmailed and shot by mafia thugs.

Loki is the president of a a one percenter MC. They hire themselves out to take out the trash and don't normally do retrievals and babysitting but the payout is too good to pass up.

I did not like either of these characters or their story for most of the book however as their story took an even darker turn and they finally started to behave more like adults, it started to change. I finally started to care about these characters and their situation and they changed from annoying and grating to real people struggling to survive and figure out their lives after traumatic experiences.

While I had problems with some of the author's view points and reasons why the characters made some of their choices I really did get pulled into the story toward the end and wished I had that from the start of the story. I think this author has a lot of potential and I look forward to seeing this author grow as she continues to write.

This is a dark romance, with some interesting side characters, an unapologetic anti-hero and a feisty, entitled rich girl. They both learn that they were missing something important in their lives and it turned out to be each other.
