Tu Wei-Ming
Autor von Confucian Thought: Selfhood as Creative Transformation
Über den Autor
Receiving his graduate training at Harvard University, Tu Wei-ming has spent most of his academic career as a professor in the United States. His basic philosophical position has been to argue for a Confucian-based humanism as a response to the alienation, nihilism, and mechanization of modern mehr anzeigen society in the West, as well as in East Asia. His essays are collected in such books as Centrality and Commonality (1989), Humanity and Self-Cultivation, and Confucian Thought: Selfhood as Creative Transformation (1985). In each case, he draws on the classical Confucian tradition, adapting its message in creative ways to argue toward a revision of personhood in today's society.
