Diesel's Perseverance is a slow burn pen pal friends-to-lovers story. I thought this series was finished a couple of years ago so I was really excited when I learned this was coming out. Chiah Wilder just made us wait a while before giving us the 16th book of her Insurgents MC series. I've read all of her other books and I couldn't pass this one up.
This book is surrounded around Freddy who is Diesel's little brother. Freddy saw dreams of being rich and didn't go about it the right way and left his girlfriend Myla with the mess. Myla already decided to leave Freddy before he disappeared but when she was threatened she knew she had to find Diesel. She and Diesel got to know each other when he was in jail and their connection grew from the letters they would exchange back and forth. That connection was reinforced the 1st time they met in person. Diesel is this big alpha man whore who's dark and dangerous but shows Myla he can also be sweet, nice, and caring. Myla can't help but fall for him and be conflicted because he's Freddy's brother and she needs to start her life all over again. When all the secrets and the truth start coming out as they try to find Freddy before it's too late Diesel learns someone in his club is tied into it also and Myla might be the one person to know who.
I gave it a 4-star rating and a 4-spicy rating. I enjoyed the friendship that turned into love between Diesel and Myla. For what they went through they needed each other's shoulders and compassion to pull through all the guilt they both felt. We only got to see the other ol' ladies once which was not enough because they're so awesome. Myla really needed the ladies to pull her out of her shell. Throughout most of the book, Myla spends the whole time in Diesel's room and only communicates with him. Even when hurt no other member would talk to her and ask her if she was ok or what happened. I didn't understand that about the book. For the men it was respectful not to talk to her cause she was with Diesel or his 'guest' but to me, it was disrespectful to her. Rag's book is up next I saw and I can't wait to dive into that one.
*I received this book for free. I voluntarily gave an honest review.*

So, Chiah Wilder has written an interesting MC book. Generally, brothers in an MC don't do anything that could betray their brothers. However, Wheelie and Sophia have a magnetic attraction to each other, even if she is his brother Tigger's ol' lady. Sophia can't stand Tigger anymore and she can't stand him hurting her anymore. Wheelie is kind and loving to her, and her day is made whenever she sees him or talks to him.

This book looks at love, loyalty, revenge, and betrayal. It was really interesting to see how those things worked in an MC setting. I mean, these guys don't follow any rules but their own, but one of the biggest rules is that you always have the brother's back and you don't betray him. The fact that there were so many different types and levels of betrayal make the story better.

Overall, I liked the book, although I did dislike some of the choices that Sophia and Wheelie made.

I'm giving this a 3.5.

I like the premise of the story, and I really like all the characters. Animal is a sweet guy who has a lot of love in his heart, even if it is hidden down deep under his tough guy biker shell. I like how protective he is with Lucy and with anyone else he thinks of as his. I like Olivia and her insistence on being man free, because it can be easy to fall from relationship to relationship and not realize that you need to find yourself to be happy, but she did that. Lucy is just super cute, and she fights so hard because of her mother. Ugh. I hate that woman.

The reason I'm giving it a 3.5 instead of a 4 is because I thought there were places where the pacing was a little slow. I was waiting for things to happen that didn't happen as quickly as they could've. They happened and I was satisfied as to how everything worked out, I just thought it was a bit slow. That is totally personal preference, and it didn't really affect my overall enjoyment of the story. I figure it was meant to build suspense, but I thought it didn't need more.

None of that will stop me from reading the rest of the series as it comes out, because I like the world that Chiah Wilder has created, and I like the characters.
