Amazing book for which I need to profusely thank Maggie Thompson for her recommendation!

If you've ever liked comics and now have kids from toddlers to teens, this is an absolutely fabulous reference that'll open your eyes to so many series and books you may've missed since your comics-reading hey-day.

I'll confess that I've now added about two dozen books/series that I'll want to try out and see if they're good fits for me and my 8 and 5 year olds.

Now if they'd just publish an update/supplement to cover great graphic works that've popped up since 2012, as I'm sure HILO THE BOY WHO FELL TO EARTH and its sequels would definitely be on it.… (mehr)

A great book for anyone considering a career in the Marine Corps. Easy yes/no questions will help you decide if this is the right path for you, and the book discusses honestly both the pros and cons of being in the Marines. This book will talk you through every step of the way, everything from talking to recruiters to how to prepare for basic training. The chapter on the history of the Marines is an interesting read even if you're not considering enlisting.

I hate to give a review after only skimming the book, but once I found out the author had not been a member of the Army or any branch of the military I put it down. I didn't feel like people should be making such important life decisions with help from someone who doesn't know first hand what the life would really be like.

As a former active duty solider, and current reservist, I enjoyed viewing this book from two different sides. I recall the time that I had many of the same exact questions that were mentioned throughout the book, and now as a combat vet, I see how some of these question turn out to be not very important at all. I'd like to see more insight from people who have gone through this process, and possible a change in the format of the book. It's a lot of information, and at the time you need it, it's best to err on a clear format.… (mehr)
