I liked this book for two reasons the illustrations and the text features. I liked the mixed of real photographs and cartoon drawing that were in the book. i thought it was great for capturing adults and children attention. For example, on page one there is a photograph of Price in her older years smiling and on page two there is a picture of price as a child playing the piano in cartoon form. I also like this book because of the text features. I thought the text features were helpful when reading. For example, the caption further explained the pictures and gave fun facts. On page 12 there are three pictures that have different captions. One picture had a hand written note from Price and the caption explained what it said and why it was written. The main message of his story is to follow your dreams and in order to follow your dreams you have to work hard.… (mehr)

I really enjoyed reading about Leontyne Price. From a very young age Leontyne showed amazing talent in music. Everything she did she excelled in. Even in school she was a straight A student. Her motivation and character should be envied by every female on this planet. Even though she was African American nothing stood in her way. Leontyne even went to Julliard and stared as Cleopatra, the most desired role in opera ever. I love how her family pushed for her to excel and helped her anyway they could even though they didn't have a lot of money. This biography is very engaging and for anyone with an interest or passion for music should consider making Leontyne Price their role model.… (mehr)

In my opinion, this is a wonderful book. This books focuses on Leontyne’s accomplishments, but not in a bragging way. For example, it says “She has received three Emmy Awards for her work in television. She also helps to provide music lesson to children in Harlem at prices they can afford”. During this time, segregation was a big deal. Leontyne strived to be the best she could be. On page 21, it says “Leontyne was chosen [to sing the title role in an NBC production of Tosca] not to break racial barriers, but because she was the best singer for the part. I also liked this book because it was organized, following her life from young child until her retirement. The language is easy to understand, with words any age could understand.… (mehr)

The book is under the 4th grade standards in Social Studies. The book is about the life of Paul "Bear" Bryant. It talks about his life to where he became the Alabama football coach.
