Written in a simple, kind of sing-song rhyming verse, Sofia's Dream is a cute story about a little girl who dreams that she makes friends with the moon. When she travels to visit the moon because it is sad, the moon reveals that it is sad because the Earth, its mother, is being polluted. There is a very straightforward environmental message and a vague appeal to be kind to each other that some young readers might find preachy and off-putting. The illustrations and the rhyming structure should hold the attention of a group if this book is being read aloud.
