Kurzbiographie
Robert Wolfe was born in rural Ohio--during the decade before the end of World War II. After reading Alan Watts The Way of Zen his interest in spiritual matters reawakened. He joined Big River Farm near Mendocino, California to farm and study Suzuki Roshi's book Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind. Robert moved on to marriage and a career, but eventually returned to Zen and Krishnamurti, Robert spent several years living in a van in the redwoods again tending his spiritual interests. He now resides in Ojai, California where he writes and is available to seekers.

It took ELEVEN months, meeting weekly, for our discussion group to get through it. Which, in other words, means it was received well by most of the members. I found the beginning third and most of the last quarter as a very understandable treatise on a difficult subject, but in the middle Wolfe switched to answering questions without sharing the actual question. IMHO, this added nothing but pages—mostly pages that seemed completely superfluous.

Earlier attempts on my part to read Thomas have had me flinging the book across the room (metaphorically!). Wolfe bring a variety of familiar voices to his argument…and some that are not quite as well known. Elaine Pagels, Bishop Spong, Bart Erhmann…. In fact, I must confess to taking a second look at the Jesus Seminar itself. At any rate, I am willing to read the Gospel of Thomas once more, attempting to make sense of it.… (mehr)
