G. Frederick Wright (1838–1921)

Written in 1891, this is a fairly comprehensive history of Charles G. Finney from his conversion, to his revivalist ministry, to his professorship in Oberlin and death. Wright covers the controversies which involved Finney and his theological views ranging from his views of inspiration to "perseverance of the saints."

All who enjoy Finney writing would gain much insight into the man and his character from Wright's autobiography. All who disapprove of Finney may just end up changing their minds, having friendlier thoughts about Finney as they gain a better understanding of his character.

In any case, this is an important read for those interested in Christian evangelical revivals.… (mehr)
