Mari Yamazaki

I watched the movie version of this a few years ago - a funny story where a Roman man time-travels to modern Japan via hot springs. The manga lives up to expectations, although the vocabulary and kanji are still a little above my level at this point. Good art, and good historical research by the author. She writes mini-essays between each chapter, which I kind of skimmed but were interesting tidbits about Roman culture and modern Italy, and the difference with Japan.

Very interested to see that (only) the English version of this book censors the penis on the cover. Come on, guys, we can do better than this.… (mehr)
