Blaine M. Yorgason

Yorgason is a well-known author of Mormon fiction. This historical treatise of the building of the St. George Utah Temple in the 1870s is a welcome departure from his normal renderings. The book is well written, the information well documented, and the illustrations of interest. The depth to which the authors go in laying out the hardships and challenges of building what they refer to as the only true "pioneer temple" gives a comprehensive view of the whole process, in contrast to what might be told in the visitor's center on the temple grounds or by a tour guide. The prominent role played by Brigham Young and other major Church leaders of the time is equally of interest. A welcome addition to a library of Mormon history.… (mehr)
