Very interesting from the fact that we have a longer pharnx so that we can either choke or talk to glossolalia to voice 10 voiceless fricatives liquids Glides stop sand flaps and phonology is really interesting system than patterns and he knows. Assimilation vs Elision, morphology which is investigating basic linguistic forms, structures versus constituent analysis.

P. 187: acquisition via communicative situations versus learning by accumulation...

The end of chapter 14 on philology was particularly interesting. I have other notes too and have to find them.… (mehr)

The Study of Language, 2nd ed. von George Yule

This textbook is an extremely basic overview of what could be learned from the myriad books listed in the Reference rather than a directive study. Don't expect in-depth examples or detailed knowledge from this book. Do expect to get a taste for the many angles of language study, which may ultimately help you decide on which you would enjoy feasting.
