Über meine Bibliothek
The nucleus of my library are hand-me-downs from my parents and textbooks from college (can you tell I majored in Spanish/LA Studies?). Of all my collecting "crazes", books have been the constant, although my dedication to the cause has waxed and waned over the years. Right now I've settled into collecting at a modest but steady rate, with the occasional influx of books from my parents or a generous friend.

I tend to go for classics, western history, cooking/cookery, and general fiction. It's far from comprehensive, though. I seem to have a lot of minor works from great writers - the inevitable consequence of a hand-me down collection. I'm doing what I can to change that and add those "books to read before you die" essentials.

I've finally made some headway with tagging and hope have more done soon, so bear with me.
Über mich
I'm a librarian - and like many librarians I developed a love of reading and books at an early age. I spent my childhood in libraries - public, school and academic - got a job in a library in college and never really left. Now my house is one too.

As a librarian I'm all for using technology to its fullest advantage (including E-publishing) as much as possible. In my civilian life I'm still an old-fashioned book lover. I'm not opposed to moving into E for my own collections, as I have with music, but the current e-book ownership model doesn't work for me. Plus I just can't resist being surrounded by walls of books.
