The Gabriel McRay series begins with "The Dark Before Dawn." Here's the gist: Troubled detective Gabriel McRay is fired for police brutality. His issues stem from the blocked memory of a childhood trauma. When a killer begins leaving notes on victim's bodies addressed to the detective, Gabriel is hired back to lure in the killer. With his career dependent on the whims of a psychopath, Gabriel soon realizes that the killer's identity hides within his own blocked memory. Teamed with his forensic pathologist girlfriend and a psychiatrist, Gabriel runs two parallel investigations. The first: a dark journey into the terrifying recollections of his past and the second: the hunt for a serial killer who seems to know more about Gabriel... than he knows himself.
Here's what Kirkus says: "Memorable characters, macabre scenes and a dazzling portrayal of reality will leave readers anxious for book two in the Gabriel McCray series".
And here's the second in the series, "Deep into Dusk." Gabriel's psychological healing process continues, only this time he has to meet a femme fatale to get past his issues with women.
Deep into Dusk has won nine awards.
"The Mask of Midnight" brings villain Victor Archwood back. The first part is a legal thriller, so if you like those, you'll love this. The second part of a book takes a radical turn, so be prepared. By a twist in the legal proceedings, Archwood is able to take his revenge on Gabriel, and utilizes his theatrical skills and criminal genius. A Clue Award winner, here's what one reviewer says, "The Mask of Midnight is nothing short of astounding. A psychological thriller of the first caliber, I had to remind myself on more than one occasion to breathe."
Are you ready? Then jump on into the series!
