I may be considered an example of your good, old-fashioned Mad Scientist. Well, about as mad as 2nd Year PhD Physicists are allowed to be. Considering all of the many distractions that growing up in the countryside, with many trees and not many people, can supply (I still can't decide which of the two I prefer), it may surprise many that I fell into the terrible habit of reading an absolutely obscene amount.

Books and the worlds they conjure, even the Real One, are addictions I have never quite managed to give up. Thus I stand before you, or possibly recline in a deliciously indolent manner, a true lover of books.

...or perhaps the my bank manager does.

My interests abide in pretty much everything that can be written on almost any subject. My only caveat is my extraordinarily strong distate for the type of popularly acclaimed "challenging" work that leaves your heart and soul feeling like it has been passed through a series of cheesegraters by someone who Really dislikes you... and yes, I have encountered books like this.
