Über michHi there, I'm a thirty-something bibliophile living in the north of Germany. I enjoy classics, mysteries, fantasy, historic fiction, literary fiction and other genres. Besides reading, I love films and TV series (mostly British and mostly period drama or mystery), traveling near and far, history, classical music, walking & hiking, plant-based food, and simply everything that brings me joy.
I love everything British and Celtic and also left a piece of my heart in Australia forever.
Traveling and reading are my lifeblood!

I'm a college teacher and I hold an M.A. in German and English literature and linguistics from the University of Cologne. I spent a magnificent semester at James Cook University in Queensland where my love for the classics truly came to life. My wonderful husband teaches politics and education (so most of the books concerning these topics in our library are his).

Books have always been my home, my anchor and my source of peace. I learned how to read when I was still in kindergarten, and I have accumulated books since then. My mom worked in a bookshop when I was a teenager and so there was an infinite influx of books at our home.
I did cull a few of my books from time to time, but only books that I hadn't read and had no intention to read, or books I did not enjoy at all.

I discovered LibraryThing and entered all of my library in 2012, and I kept track of all new acquisitions for several years, but lost control one day. In summer 2019 I did a new start and began entering all of my books that were missing, plus all of my husband's books (not as many as mine, but he is a keen reader and has quite a collection as well). I'm also re-organizing my virtual shelves and checking every book regarding the cover, authors and other details, trying to get a fresh overview and creating more useful tags. It's a very slow process that will take a few years, but I'm enjoying it tremendously!

Über meine Bibliothek My top three works of fiction read in 2020:
1. Tayari Jones: An American Marriage
2. Theodor Fontane: Irrungen Wirrungen
3. Henning Mankell: Mörder ohne Gesicht/Faceless Killers

I have created a separate collection called "Other media" that includes CDs, DVDs and also digital copies or streamed content - mostly book-related. I include films and soundtracks if they have a literary aspect (such as screen versions and adaptations of novels I have read, bio pics about authors etc). Other films are not included unless they deal with a topic I‘m particularly interested in or I use them in my lessons.

I feel like LibraryThing is my calm heaven in the noisy and hectic times of social media, and for sure the very best website for readers and bibliophiles! If you have any questions about the books in my collection, feel free to drop me a line :-)
