Über meine Bibliothek
I like fiction, although as I get older I have done the once unthinkable and actually read nonficiton. My favorite book of all time is Don Quixote. It is both classic and postmodern. And it makes me laugh, which cannot be over-rated.
My favorite guilty pleasure is Donald Westlake.
I admire many writers. I love funny writers who are smart and smart writers who are funny: Twain, Nabokov, Nicholson Baker, Martin Amis.
I like Commonwealth writers:Barbara Pym, Dorothy Sayers, Peter Carey, John Le Carre, Graham Greene, Barbara Pym, Kate Atkinson, Beckett, Ken Bruen.
I like American entertainers: Ed McBain, Hiaissen, Marquand's Mr. Moto books, the pulps, and the modern thriller.
I like meta-fiction, or at least, books about books.
Über mich
Call me Seth! It all began 49 years ago, in New York. A baby was born. There were no wise men looking for me. In fact, nobody would look for me until about ten years later, when I decided to go to Riverside Park without telling my mom. That outing didn't end so well. Years later, as I faced the blank "about me box,"
I wrote a novel I never showed to anyone. I sold a short story to Sassy (a great teen mag) and freelanced for many esteemed publications. i got married, I started working on internet. I got out of journalism. I worked selling music and books and magazines for a major, major web site. We had kids. Years went by. Our Brooklyn house on the corner of Crack and Smack is now on the corner of Trendy and Hip. I wrote a comic-but-actually-very-serious novel called [The King of Pain], which came out in July 2012. The experience has made me want to do nothing but write books but I still work in an office.
