- Ridgate's small library is listed in the inventory of his estate (PDF), taken 19 June 1790 and recorded 19 July 1790. His entire estate was valued at £2,826, 3 shillings (of which all the books taken together comprise just £2, 10 shillings). The bulk of his estate consisted of the inventory of his store.

- Thomas Howe Ridgate (1734-1790), Maryland merchant. A partner in the tobacco firm Barnes & Ridgate.
Ridgate was amoung the founding members of a Debating Society organized in Port Tobacco, MD, in 1788. His home, Chimney House, is one of only three surviving 18th-century buildings in the town (you can read more about the house here, or check out a 3D model here).
Ridgate died with many outstanding debts, for which his creditors sued his widow. - Ort
