- I just started creating my catalogue so the list is by no means complete, nor is it an accurate description of my reading habits and preferences. That said: I don't collect books as objects but for content. Most of what I have are used copies but there are some nice hardcover ones I'm proud of, as well as a few children's books. I'm about collecting the information that the books contain because I have a terrible memory. I treat my books terribly. I bend them back to break the bindings when they won't lay flat; I not only dog-ear pages but fold whole pages into fan-shapes; I have even been known to tear pages out of books (though I quickly repent and replace them when I've calmed down). What I never do is loan my books out. Some own real estate; this is my real estate.
