I have been interested in books and collecting books since grade school. We now have several thousand books at home and I have another several hundred work-related books in my university office. The books at home tend towards: poetry, fiction (US and International), history, science, graphic fiction, first editons, some antiquarian, Folio Society books, and art books. At work, the books are mostly about schizophrenia, general mental health, family therapy, research, ethics, and higher education.

I am a social work professor at Loyola University Chicago. Met my future wife when we were both freshmen in college, we married several years later. We have a daughter and live in the suburbs outside of Chicago. In my freetime I enjoy going to movies, reading, writing (non-fiction for work, poetry for fun), playing Scrabble, looking at the universe with my telescope, and listening to music.
