Über meine Bibliothek
Heavy on mystery novels and collections, Georgette Heyer. Until 20 years ago, I had a very large number of science fiction books but sold them before moving to Maine. In fact, I probably sold about half my entire collection of books because we just didn't have room. I now purchase mostly used books at library sales.
Über mich
As a child, I read anything I could get my hands on - including encyclopedias, The Lincoln Library series (the secret to my success in trivia games), old westerns from my grandparents' attic, The Black Stallion series, epic historical novels such as Michener's "Hawaii", cereal boxes (no books at the table), fairy tales, the Tarzan novels, etc. Around the age of 13 I started doing housework weekly for my grandmother who was crippled by arthritis. She read only mysteries and when I was through dusting I would read one of her books; this started my long love affair with the genre. Grandma introduced me to Rex Stout, Ngaio Marsh, Margery Allingham, John Dickson Carr, Mary Roberts Rinehart, and many, many others. I inherited her large collection of Detective Club selections dating back to the 1950s as well as her Constance and Gwenyth Little collection.
