Über michI live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and have had a varied career with a degree in Speech/Theatre, and work in investigations and police oversight. Now I've completely switched gears, and have an online business selling vintage costume jewelry and accessories. I'm married to an Irishman, have a grown son and a 3-year-old granson whom I absolutely adore (and who stays with me two days a week).
Hobbies include cooking, reading, piano, live theater, travel. I've been fortunate to see some wonderful places, including China, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, Singapore.
Über meine BibliothekI'm like the Ashleigh Brilliant cartoon: "I have so many self-help books I've become an expert in how to sit and read." My library does contain many spiritual/personal growth books, but also reflects my wide range of interests and in some cases, I tend to be an obsessive collector (more cookbooks than I'll ever use, for example). I read mostly non-fiction. When it comes to fiction, I am pretty selective and try to avoid the lite stuff. I enjoy progressive-liberal political books. (We also subscribe to numerous periodicals, including the New York Times and The New Yorker -- so much to read, so little time!)
Do you ever wonder about people whose homes seem almost entirely devoid of books? Combining my husband's and my respective book collections when we married in 2005 was quite a task! We have a neat spare room we use for a library, but books still infiltrate nearly every other room in the house and I'm having to get creative with storage. Books listed here on LibraryThing includes those I've read in the past and have since parted with.
