Über meine Bibliothek
My library is eclectic to say the least. While I teach many classics, my favorite being Shakespeare, I also love regional writing (fiction and non-fiction alike). The connection to "place" is so integral to who we are as individuals and also a part of a larger community. Over the years, I have become more aware of the subtleties that connect us all - a shared meal, a shared belief, or a genuine interest in learning about others and their belief systems. The role of food in literature has always fascinated me and is something I like to explore with my students. While many of my students dislike reading, everyone loves a good meal. This is a way that we can learn to explore food, meaning, and a love of literature. Perhaps my favorite guilty pleasure is the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon.
Über mich
My name is Lisa, and I am an Associate Professor of English at North Central Texas College and Collin College. I teach Grammar & Composition, Technical Writing (Honors), World Literature, British Literature, Literature of the American South. To have a career that allows me to encourage a new generation of readers and writers is awe-inspiring and gives me hope that this world can be better - that we can find commonalities and a rhetoric that builds one another up rather than sentiments that denigrate and decimate our peers. Books, literature (in any form) are not only a mirror in which we can examine ourselves but a window that opens us up to unimaginable worlds beyond our own.
