Denise Startin is an artist, writer and researcher. Working primarily with found objects and images her practice is curatorial in approach.

In 2014-2015 Denise completed a Micro Residency as Artist Researcher (Interpretation) for the Field Archaeology Team at Erddig House & Gardens, Nr Wrexham, Wales. The research investigated the crossover between art and archaeology to constitute an understanding of the site specific not just artistically but historically, contextually and physically. Erddig holds the 2nd largest National Trust collection in the UK, containing over 30,000 items. This Grade 1 listed parkland covers 1,200 acres and archaeological monuments in the landscape date from the 8th century.

Providing independent research support to conduct an Archaeological Historic Landscape Survey produced new interpretations, insights, stories and perspectives into the grounds, the historic and designed landscape, collections and archives producing extensive textual, visual and archival data to aid in the future maintenance of the archaeological monuments.
