And the people's lives that evolve around the climb. (1), This book is awesome. This is a wonderful book about nature (1), Great futuristic foresinc book. Part 1 in the series. Quick easy read (1), loves and holiday. A very quick read w/every day issues. (1), Light book about a terrific speller in an environment that is not condusive to making it. It read more like a J novel and there is family disfunction (1), Heavy read. It was a bit slow but a story that needed to be told. I read Lovely Bones first and for that I am grateful. A woman who goes to trial after being raped. (1), family (1), Starts out w/sex but they don't really have sex-premature ejaculation. Two virgins that find their way at 16. (1), It starts out like Lovely Bones and then it twists... This time it's a boy protagonist but wow does it flow. Loved it. Heavy content w/racism at the helm. It takes place in Sweden and the sentiment is the same as when I visited in the 80s. good (1), language and love... A lot in this well written book. I had a bit of time getting used to the poor grammer but after a time I went into the flow of the character and it worked (only a little correcting as I read) to keep the rhythm of the book. (1), best friends with the same goals...or not. If you love theatre you'll love this inside but outside glimpse into another world. (1), Interesting book about eating disorders. It has a good story line w/3 friends trying to get through school (1), good times fighting a giant worm which loves their band's sound.... Good easy read. (1), and then the story unfolds. A quick good read. All teenaged girls will love it. (1), faith and hope. She has been signing since birth since her older brother Sean is deaf. This is about relationships and self discovery. It is as light and as hopeful as Emily Dickinson's poem she is quoting. (1), believable characters. Quick read. Loved it! (1), Great book for anyone living w/active alcoholism. Sam is 13 and appeals for help w/notes in the non-fiction section left in a book. Good concept (1), I loved this book. Without telling anything it's about giving. (1), Interesting story about Annie Sullivan humanizing her and how she coped w/a spoiled Helen Keller. The afterword was as interesting as the book. (1), and her own defenses in order to cope. A quick read w/a nice sub plot about another strong girl character (1), I love this series. It's light but interesting. Crushes (1), half vietnam who is spared her life by her vietnamese mother by sending her to America so that the communists do not kill her. It starts slow but it is a good read. (1), and changes his life w/kindness instead of indifference. (Shaun would have died on the curb if he didn't.) The angel wants to live fast and furious before he is taken away since this act is illegal. (1), A terrific recap of 1957 Little Rock "nine." It was a touching poignant book. It's amazing this has only been 50 years and no hooplah in the media. Good book. (1), Interesting title since the expression is never used but it looks at who are your "real" parents when you are adopted. The story line is a bit unbelievable but it is a quick read. 8th graders (1), Allison and the devil. Interesting. A fun easy read w/an out there plot. Middle school book w/no real heavy content. (1), A quick read w/a dark and beautiful tale. How our dreams shape our lives and the other world around them. We have it in the YA section but it's really a tween book. (1), This book starts out light and gets heavier and heavier. Short stories on being a lesbian and the issues (1), whom has lymphoma and it upsets her and her family's life. She lives...:) (1), separation between church and state. Great concept for a book. All parties are represented from middle schoolers to adults. Nice job for a first book. (1), her new home. Another story told at the same time 1830-1880s very interesting and a page turner. Nothing scary here (1), This is very different from her other books. Bones found in the garden of a recently divorced broken hearted woman (1), A great book about being outside the popular group and forming an alternative band. Great concept (1), The three fates make this an interesting read. It begins w/all 4 friends getting tattoos (1), human. I especially liked Alice (1), A tear jerker. Good portrayal of the Viet Nam war and the countries sentiments (unlike today's veterans). Cracker the dog tells the story as well as Rick from the states to the front line. Great book. (1), Kyle Kingston (1), with many teenager topics. (boy changes from geek to hottie over the summer and gets the girl (his father's boss) father is a jerk you know....) (1), his immediate family and his peers. This is set with the Vietnam War in the background. And Shakespeare plays are the threadline. Good read. (1), I loved this book. A great story told both in illustrations and words. (1), this is a good story based in truth about occupied Denmark during WWII. Quick easy read. (1), setting and an all around lovely book. Raphael lovers will delight in this book. It is romantic! (1), boy teenager wants sex and to cry over the loss of his dead older brother. sad read (1), We start out in the chat room w/characters wanting to transform back -froggie (1), than the book. It is a high level quick read. Almost an adult book not YA. very quick paced. (1), San finds Zen in order to impress (1), Lev and Roland all are interesting characters in this gruesome tale. (1), that her mother will never be like she wants her to be and that her father has been both parents to her w/undying conviction and love w/out complaining. Adam (1), falls in love and slowly dies. She comes to terms w/her parents divorce (1), and she hasn't experienced anything really. she leaves school (1), Tess makes a list of all the things she needs to do before dying (1), I am fortunate to have heard Gantos speak. His recap of this book is a bit different (1), This story is told w/two uses for the word nailed- sticking out and getting hammered in (to be normal) and having sex. A lot of wanting sex. Father son relationship and wanting to get more from life than his parents had. (1), 'sister' to Edward. Her personal story is the best- how she became a vampire and how she befriends Bella. (1), Set in 1925 when refrigerators were new a boy grows up in Harlem. He wants to play sax but his life is influenced by the good and bad in any city life. He finds his way out of his mess by luck and friends. (1), a beautiful book about love during the slave era. Their plights (1), This was a long read for me but I did enjoy it. The last 100 pages were the best for me and even then they moved slowly. I hope the next two move faster. Edward (1), and lore. One night in one book and what a night. It kept me intrigued and guessing. (1), now I want to read her other stuff. Kids partying at night on a beach (1), This was amazing. I loved the hook and from there it went on to become very dramatic and chilling. (I meant the pun.) Another young adult book about family (1), walked out on Dizzy and her dad when she was 4 to travel around the world hopping fests. Storm comes back for Dizzy's b-day (1), peers and bottom line trust w/expectations. Oh and virginity. This time it's kept. (1), This was a feel good book on a subject that wasn't pleasant- foster care. She believes that she will never be adopted so she carries her plastic garbage bag as luggage hoping that mom will come for her. (1), Jason & Kyra is a good falling in love book. The usual family issues (1), their relationship and having to sell off the farm. It is written in prose. I loved it. (1), and Fred the book was happy. I thought the 19 year thing was cheesy. It was nice that she tied everything together. I believed in Snape (1), A sweet book about an elf troll girl. She loves the earth and tries to save the trees. Very appropiate to today. I loved it. (1), Nice graphic nove. Blue pages fit the story. It was an interesting tale; is it true? (1), Indianna. She put recipes throughout the book and called it a food memoir. It was not a quick read but good. (1), This was a good read. Two 11th graders (1), his stuff and her life now without him. A light read even if it's surreal at times. Did I buy the time travel? no but it was a book that offered humor from time to time... (1), I loved this book! I heard it on CD first and had to read the book to finish it immediately. A book about relationships (1), feelings and day to day living. A good read especially for middle schoolers. The n word is used (1), and the build up over the past couple weeks. Who is the shooter and why did they shoot? It is another fine example of blatant bullying and fighting back. (1), says he needs to be taught a lesson on what beauty is. And he does after he becomes an ugly beast. He learns the beauty of nature and people. I loved this book. (1), who is a very nasty spoiled rich kid. Kendra (1), bear and the beast. Our story is about the beast (1), they move from Maine to Boston and Eleni has loads of kids. Their family dog is forced to live outside. And Evyn learns how to live w/others. (1), and Mackey the 15 yr old son. Suddenly (1), A light book about being forced into a new family after her father marries Eleni. It has just been Birdie (1), Too many characters at first and it flips back and forth in time. The quad current (1), not like her last Snowflower and the Secret Fan but a good read. A bit longer but a nice tribute to the Peony Pavillion. I love how she weaves the mystic culture in her story of bound lily feet to arranged marriages. And don't forget the ghosts and yin an (1), Karina and Rachael fnd themselves kissing each other. But overall it's about living w/a violent man in fear of being beaten to death. (1), value placed on parts. If you run away the juvy cops come after you. This 'unwound" would be AWOL. Risa (1), Zane takes a road trip to Zanesville OH to visit his mother's grave(she committed suicide) and he's going to commit suicide at her grave. The book moves quickly and urgently while he reviews his family geneology 7th son etc. very cool (1), Tragic book about being in a coma and a families choices and how they cope. Hal is a wonderful brother to Charley (in coma) and tries to discover what happened to her the night she had the accident. (1), 7. Only 1 and 7 are created by the author. Beautiful book. (1), 11 discs. It was wonderful. A tale at the end of each chapter (1), Kylie (she is unpopular and "plain"). Then the conquest for Ian is to make Kylie fall for him as his last part of his initiation into the FBI (Freaky Boys Inc). There is explicit sex and a very believable plot line. A mature book on a very real timeless s (1), Set in 1935 on Alcatraz island. It is about a 13 yr old boy with a 16 yr old sister w/autism (mother doesn't let her age past 10) and how one family tries to grow and help the sister become independent. The island has its own hierachy that adds to the sto (1), We never know the protaganist name but I loved her rash daring character. She is a strong woman in a society (1), when he was 9. His life moving after he is released from the institute learning he deserves a life and loving the people around him. Tough read but very thought provoking. It takes him meeting Sam when he realizes the only way he can live is to tell his t (1), this one got me. I could not put it down. Sara does not think she is beautiful but she is. She's anorexic and wants all kinds of cosmetic surgery. Her bf loves her the way she is but she doesn't find comfort in it. She befriends Jonathon Heat who has had (1), 2 girls become friends w/D Foster against the backdrop of Tupac's final days after being shot twice; horrific shootings. The dialogue is rich and I cared about the characters. (1), explores the history of Malcolm X and comes to terms w/his death. A great compliment to Before I Die. (1), Ben has one year to live. He chooses not to tell anyone and to try out for the football team and leave his cross country team behind. He gets a girlfriend (1), A fast paced book about being a gay transvestite. Billy Bloom was born into costume designs. He is forced to live w/his father and finish his sr year at a very christian white school. The abuse and struggles he goes through however horrible are told well. (1), Two friends Blair and Ardith from very dysfunctional homes become friends in a small town. An officer Dave recognizes this and becomes their friend and advocate helping them discover right from wrong w/in themselves. It's Adult in our collection but it is (1), This was an interesting read about the impact of marjiuana and its consequences. I'm not sure about the ending was the author making a ironic point? With 4 joints Kevin's life will not be the same expelled from school his sr yr and unable to be on the tra (1), I liked this book. It sure took a long time for Naomi to get that she is not going to be Ely's girlfriend. He is gay she loves him and he can't return that kind of love. This is a book about close friendships and misunderstandings finding their way to bec (1), a 16 year old that gets pregnant w/his gf Alicia. He loves to skate board and talks to Tony Hawk. The book travels in and out of the present. A nice twist told through a British point of view w/good family relations and interactions. Very different in the (1), Eve age 24. Man is it rough but told so well w/inserts when Josh is in therapy. I loved it. Now who would I recommend it to? A typical sub plot between Josh and Rachel except Rachel was affected by the misconduct too. Interesting that Josh thought he sedu (1), Karina tells us that she killed the Daddy but it takes the entire book for her to tell her tale. She is a story teller. This books takes a look at a Haitian family and their dysfuntion. The Daddy beats the girls to the point of extreme violence. There is (1), The Heartland War pro-life vs pro-choice and another army to keep everything in balance. The result afterwards a child who is not living up to expectations can be terminated from the age of 13 until their 18th bday. But they are perceived as not dead thei (1), Standish is a great 11 year old girl w/more responsibilities than most children have. Her parents are farmers and are gone all day and night. She has no friends until Miss Lydia and her are the last people in town bc of an impending flood. Their friendshi (1), A thoughtful insightful book. "Hands and Words are not for Hurting" is the theme surrounding a girl named Hope whose mother is verbally abusive. Her mother finds another way by taking the pledge to change her life. It was too tight but it was good anyways (1), Another quick read w/the triangle love. I loved the bees term paper like still life w/bees at the beginning of each chapter and the inserts that were symbolic of the relationships of the characters. I felt like I knew what the ending would be but stlll li (1), that does not encourage such behavior. A rug designer and maker she survives hardship after hardship. I listened to the CD (1), and he is a virgin w/boys. Sort of the flip side of Freak Show. Fun (1), and not feeling safe inside your home (1), family and hope. It brought me to tears in a good way. I'm not sure if it's bc the author is now dead or if I was sentimental. I enjoyed this book and it's story of alternative ways to the mainstream. (1), and extended family. A bit about alcoholism too. And a neighborhood that helps one another. (1), A wonderful J book that is well written and illustrated. Biology (1), knowing each others strengths and short comings. The beginning was slow for me but wow the middle and end.... good book. (1), This started off slow for me then picked up. I liked how dysfunctional functional DJs family is. How they stick together w/love (1), A quick read for an awful story about incest. Father is back and mother is majorly dysfunctional. Good sub plot w/another child Andy whom was also abused by Meredith's father. I love the cover I loved the pace of this book. (1), b/c this book is written in poetry like Sold it made the content easier to read. the new drug crank and the portrayal of addiction was terrific. interesting that this is what young readers are reading... (1), and power dark verses light. A quick read for a 400 pg book. (1), A love story about a ghost who needs to let go. I liked this book bc the ghost spokein prose (1), and she finds herself drawing in a coffee shop window. She befriends homeless street kids and finds out what she truly believes in. (1), acting and a play as a sub plot w/censorship by the majority. Good quick read w/lots of insight into teenage friendships. (1), Matt and changes his world. He is happy to be her secret boyfriend and she wants him to destroy her family of lies.... (1), loving her neighborhood friend and understanding the hiearchy of cliques. It 's more of a tween book to me than a YA. They do drink beer one night but that's it. And Shug doesn't want to do it. (1), relationships and wanting what we don't or can't have. A functioning alcholic mother and a traveling father (1), another scary oral history if rabies could be passed by saliva. He is scary in his oral history it almost seems real... good background info and I loved his mother and her tack infested food. (1), and dysfunction w/a surreal touch. Terrifc! (1), Tom and Alice to be together. I loved the feral witch sub plot in this book. (1), Extended families at its finest. William Marie (1), Jonathan Parish is gay. This book does not portray the ugliness of school friends as much as acceptance. Never mind that he has to play straight in order to see Kylie Minogue w/a closeted lesbian friend. Jonathan has sex w/a girl (1), An intense good insight into middle school behavior. The book started a little slow for me and then picked up fast. It was full of surprises interesting insights (1), is also special. Zoey her best friend is the only one that really gives her a hard time which is believable. (1), and thought they knew her. Nice arrangement (1), Raquel goes to the movies and leaves w/people she met inside discussing the film and steps out in front of an SUV. She dies (1), have her trusting w/out her defensives arrising first. I cried a bit in the end. It is my first book about Quakers and it really is about extended family. (1), is on her last chance of living w/extended family 2nd cousin of a cousin.... They are Quakers living in PA motivated by peace. She is bullied at school and by a teacher but the love of Sam and Jessica (1), it was a story that all parents should read. Miriam is a "freak" but discovers that she likes herself along the way of abuse (1), Interesting stoner book. Zero tolerance policy w/the core being Zig the principal and decisions he makes on behalf of the school. It was a quick read but mindless. It would probably engage both boys and girls. (1), A great book about Viney and her learing to be a midwife from Missy Violet. A sweet book. (1), anywhere. Even if I didn't agree suicide was the solution it is believable for this character. (1), who recently committed suicide explaining what lead up to it and naming the teenagers who let her down. Interesting look at bullying (1), has to live w/a huge crisis. He set a boy on fire (1), Tommy tells everyone she's "skanky." Darren and his gf have a baby. A dysfuntional family barely functioning. Language and sex. (1), 16 and her brother Darren have really changed their lives. Deanna fools around at 13 w/a 17 yr old boy (1), and was full of dislike. And her bf she wonders what she saw in him. I good fun book. I knew it would come full circle but it was still good. (1), Naomi dives down a flight of stairs and loses her memory for 4 yrs. coincedentally when her mother divorced her father. she is a better person w/amnesia than b4 the fall and she can't believe she kept a food diary (1), and the book is about little memoirs of the people who knew her (1), Obaachan. Her father is redhaired and blue eyed and their mother is Japenese but she and her sister Sally look like their mother. Lin has the gift of sight and is a wonderful character. Lana finds a friend in Chet and the Snicks. And how one wrong turn and she meets Miss Hekkity at her shop and it helps her find her path later on. (1), and the young boy was clueless but knew right from wrong connected to his family. (1), easy read w/a moving plot. A woman empowered who thinks like a man and uses herbs to heal. (1), A beautiful tale retold in prose w/Elaine and King Arthur. Wonderful (1), A period piece set in the late 1800s (1), longing and the power of being a vampire. (1), A definite boy book w/action football plays. Mick Johnson wants to be a pro football player and the lure of steroids to enhance his physique is too hard for him to pass up and before you know it he can't stop using. His parents die and he is forced to finish high school in foster care. We discover his parents weren't that great but he finds himself and what he believes in w (1)
