Book tastes

I love fantasy with complex world building and character-driven scifi. But, I read pretty broadly, so I'm open to whatever you recommend!
Extras I love in fiction:
- LGBTQ characters (especially own voices!)
- Anti-capitalist & Anti-imperialist Themes
- Spanish or Spanglish dialog and/or narration (Fiebre Tropical has this and I want more like it!)
- Appendices or footnotes (for example, in A Tale for the Time Being, The Rose Code, or Tales or Neveryon)
I also love nonfiction, especially about sciences or history (or history of science!)
Other nonfiction topics I'm interested in:
- Linguistics (especially translation and constructed languages)
- Feminist Theory (especially transgender perspectives)
- Ecological/Environmental justice
- History of technology

Don't get this!

I'm not interested in books with explicit sexual content. I prefer romance to be a subplot, not the main driver of the story.
Also no biography/memoir, self-help, or western mythology.

Capybara_99: If you see this, elbow_and_biggs, I think you might like "The Age of Wonder" by Richard Holmes. Its a largely biographical history of science in The Romantic Era in Britain (mostly). (Dez. 4, 2023, 6:24pm)

MDGentleReader: The Hands of the Emperor. A fantasy novel about good government, utterly engrossing. LGBTQ characters are just... characters. No explicit sexual content, romance not the main driver of the story. A favorite book of mine. (Nov. 25, 2023, 8:26pm)
